Congratulations to our Varsity Volleyball Team - the 2014 NCISAA 1A State Champions! The team defeated Hickory Christian Academy 3 games to 1 to bring home the title.
The Eagles' roster included: Haley Reeg, Cameron Leonhardt, MacKenzie Urquhart, Hannah Martin, Alexis Hawk, Courtney Jones, Julia Bauer, Delaney Green, Caroline Corey, Asha Armistead, Mackenzy Waugh, Briscoe Robinette, Laura Bauer, and Ali Reeg.
Caroline Corey had 15 kills and 14 digs to lead the Eagles. Cameron Leonhardt finished with nine kills and nine blocks - five solo - and Hannah Martin added 10 digs and seven kills. Laura Bauer led Oakwood with 23 assists.Â Â
The volleyball team's overall record for the season was 24-7. The girls were ranked #1 going into the NCISAA 1A Championship and ranked 2nd in their conference behind 2A Epiphany School. Â
Haley Reeg and Caroline Corey made the NCISAA 2014 1A Volleyball All-State Team. Haley Reeg, Delaney Green, Caroline Corey, and Cameron Leonhardt made the All-Conference Team. Hannah Martin and Laura Bauer made the All-Tournament Team.
This championship represented Oakwood's third state title in the past three years with our Boys Varsity Tennis Championship in 2014 and Girls Varsity Softball Championship in 2013.Â
