The Oakwood Parent Experience
Since our founding, Oakwood has often been called a “family school”. At first, this term meant parents doing things like mowing the grass, cleaning the school, organizing field trips and much more! Although parent support has evolved over the years, Oakwood is still a family school that feels warm and welcoming the minute you walk into the main office and meet Ms. Christine, our front office manager.
Your first tour of the school will probably include a current parent along with our Admissions Director, Kelly Robbins. Before the start of school, each new family is paired with a “buddy family” to talk them through the first weeks of school and keep in touch throughout the year to answer any question you might have – no question is too big or small to ask at Oakwood. Over time, many of our families build strong networks of friendship and support within our school community. Oakwood may initially be a school for your children, but we hope it will also become a place where you, as parents, feel welcome, known, appreciated and supported.
Volunteering at Oakwood
The Oakwood School community includes an exceptional network of parents who are an integral part of our school. Parent volunteer groups support our students through the generosity of their time and resources, and they help strengthen student programs, build community, and provide additional support for our faculty.
Visit our Volunteer page for additional information on how you can become an active part of The Oakwood School community.
