MISSION STATEMENT: The P.S.A. exists to further the school’s vision, through volunteer work within the school, fundraising, education, and special events.

Each Oakwood School Parent is a member of the PSA and is encouraged to attend and participate in meetings and events. Please review the events on the website and sign up to volunteer for one or more activities by filling out the Parent Volunteer form linked on this website. Participation in these activities provides an opportunity for parents to develop a closer relationship with the school community, to be more knowledgeable about school programs, and to become better acquainted with the faculty and administration.

FUNDRAISERS

Great American Opportunities Sale
August 22 – September 19, 2008 – (Ellen Engels) This annual sales event is chaired by a PSA volunteer with funds going directly to benefit the operating budget of the school.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
October 3, 2008 (Renee Yongue) This event allows students' grandparents and other special friends to learn about the school and meet their grandchildren's teachers.

Fall Festival 2008
October 24, 2008 – (Lorrie Kessler) This has become a favorite among Oakwood families. PSA volunteers organize booths, collect items for prizes, set up and run booths, and clean up. All booths and events run on the ticket system, so in addition to providing a fun evening out, the Festival contributes to the PSA operating budget.

Family Fun Night
February 6, 2009 (Meg Cooke) This event offers families a social evening in the long winter stretch after the holidays. In the past, there has been a chili cook-off with games. A small admission fee is charged, contributing to the operating budget of the PSA.

Auction
March 6, 2009 – This is the major fundraiser for the school. This is a very large committee made up of PSA volunteers, faculty and staff. Please plan to volunteer and shop in order to make this a huge success for our school.

Earn Cash for OAKWOOD
Help earn free money for our school by re-linking your Harris Teeter VIC Card (Harris Teeter) and your Food Lion MVP card (Food Lion MVP)and by applying in the store or online at Target.com for the Target Visa and designating Oakwood.

We always look forward to many of our other favorite traditions including the new family orientation, back to school volunteer fair, the student store, community service and teacher appreciation events.
